We believe raising awareness is the key to biosecurity. Once we all know how to carry out simple measures to ensure our bags and cargo are stowaway free, the safer our seabird islands will be.

Below you will find interpretation materials we have in place around the UK. Some of these are in place at ports, harbours and airports. Poster and leaflets can be found in the visitor centres and amenities on islands and at mainland departures points.
If you have a business or community space on an island, or at mainland departure points and you could display posters or provide leaflets, please do send us an email, head to ‘contact us’.
Together, we can all protect seabird islands from invasive predators.
Over 40 biosecurity incursions were reported on islands designated as Special Protection Areas (SPA) for breeding seabirds around the UK since 2018 alone. Help prevent the next one by carrying out these simple checks:
This 8-page biosecurity booklet provides information on what to do when travelling to islands including checking vehicles, cargo and baggage. Download a copy here.
These interpretation panels will soon be in place at the main points of departure for islands (ports, harbours and airports) to raise awareness of how we can all play our part in biosecurity and protecting seabirds.
